If the ‘Smoked’ style were like a night away from home it would be a night spent in the wilderness, beside a lake with a fire. The moon reflecting in the water and the stars clear in the sky.
Your body aches from a hard days walk, and the skin on your face feels tight from the wind.
You feed the fire from a pile of wood, and every now and again you stand downwind of the fire, your eyes stinging from the smoke, to discourage the mosquitoes from biting;
rather than a night in a chain hotel where you’re not too sure where you are because they all look the same.
Many design movements of the 20th Century looked forward to a bright new world. De Stihl, Bauhaus, Arts and Crafts, all had visions of a better future.
The 1950’s post war era of modernism looked forward to a future dominated by technology.
Series Z also looks forward to a bright new future.....
